John Dawkins new Eglinton café boss

Hospitality mogul John Dawkins says Amberton beach’s new café and bar will provide beef and lamb paddock-to-plate dishes, as well as interesting seafood and beverage options.

THE operator of the new café and bar under construction at the Amberton beach foreshore precinct in Eglinton is John Dawkins from Tillbrook Melaleuka Group. 

As the owner of CY O’Connor in Perth and the seaside venue, Hybla Tavern at Albany, Mr Dawkins will continue the theme of coastal hospitality with Amberton beach’s new venue perched 16m above sea level and with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean.

The dining spot is being built alongside a stairway directly to the beach and a newly-opened and fully-fenced playground and soon-to-be-constructed recreational space set across 1.5ha.

Mr Dawkins said he jumped at the chance to secure the location because dune-top sites with such unmatched views would become increasingly difficult to acquire.

“Being involved with the venue at Amberton beach was a unique opportunity and one I’m excited to be a part of – the view is going to be a massive drawcard for those enjoying the area,” he said.

“We are still deciding on the official name of the venue, but I can confirm we will be continuing our renowned beef and lamb paddock-to-plate dishes, as well as interesting seafood and beverage options.”

Due to open next summer, the café and bar will cater to 200 people and will offer coffee, meals, a full-service bar and the ability to host functions with indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Stockland regional manager Damian Shephard said the foreshore precinct had been highly-anticipated and he was pleased to welcome Mr Dawkins and his team to the community to create a new experience for residents with the development of the café and bar.
