A MAN has been charged by Joondalup detectives in relation to a serious assault in Butler on Thursday, June 27.
WA Police will allege the 24-year-old man attended a park on Brampton Avenue about 12.20am armed with a baseball bat.
A police spokeswoman said it would also be alleged the man used the baseball bat to seriously assault the victim – a 29-year-old man – who was also at the park at the time.
It is believed the man arranged to meet at the park with a group of others, following a previous incident in Alkimos on June 26.
The victim sustained serious facial injuries and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital, where he later underwent surgery.
On July 16 the 24-year-old male was arrested at a home in Jindalee and has since been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.
He is next due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 31.
