A MAN has been charged by WA Police for breaching a self-quarantine direction.

A WA Police spokeswoman said the 56-year-old man arrived in WA on a flight from Queensland on Monday, August 9.

“The man was granted entry into WA on compassionate grounds as a returning WA resident and was directed to self-quarantine at a residence in Yanchep,’’ she said.

But operation tide breach investigation team officers doing follow-up checks found the man was not at the registered location.

Police allege the man collected a car in Perth and drove around for three days prior to checking into a campsite at a caravan park in Guilderton.

They also allege the man lied in his G2G declaration and was not a WA returning resident. The man’s Covid test done on arrival at Perth airport was negative.

He has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a direction (Emergency Management Act).

He was due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court yesterday, Saturday, August 14.
