ABOUT 180 lots are due to go on sale later this year in Mariginiup following an initial subdivision covered by the East Wanneroo district structure plan (DSP).
The DSP involves about 8000ha of land, which will deliver about 50,000 new dwellings to accommodate up to 150,000 people during the next 50 years.
Stockland’s Grevillea estate is part of one of three precincts in the DSP area recently approved for delivery by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC).
Grevillea estate will include a mix of housing types from traditional family-sized blocks to townhouse style homes.
The first precinct is set to deliver more than 2000 new homes across 123ha.
According to a Cook Government statement, the strategic collaboration between the state government, the City of Wanneroo and industry provides a co-ordinated blueprint for sustainable development in East Wanneroo.
The structure plan covers parts of the suburbs of Wanneroo, Mariginiup, Gnangara, Jandabup and Pinjar.
According to WA.gov.au the 28 precincts in the DSP area take account of environmental, planning, water management and tenure considerations.
“Not all precincts will be developed and most of the eastern portion of the structure plan area will remain zoned rural or state forest,’’ the post said.
The East Wanneroo DSP was subject to extensive consultation, including establishment of a community reference group comprising 36 local representatives, who helped develop the vision and desired planning outcomes for the plan.
Consultation also included a public comment period attracting 454 submissions, two local community information drop-in sessions, collaboration with the Whadjuk working party, as part of South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council, consultation with the City of Wanneroo, relevant state government agencies and utilities providers as well as direct engagement with many landowners and community groups.
