A COMMUNITY meeting will be held at 2pm today at the Granville Civic Centre on Weld St as Gingin residents face a bushfire threatening homes in Wowra Dr and Lennards Rd.
An Emergency WA map (below) from earlier today shows the warning areas for the Gingin-Bindoon and Bambun-Yanchep bushfire – but the latter has just been downgraded to an advice.
At 10am the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said the community meeting would be livestreamed via the Shire of Gingin Facebook page
An emergency warning is in place for people in an area bounded by Cockram Rd to the west, Mooliabeenee and Ashworth roads to the north, Crest Hill Rd to the east and Gray and Creighton Rd to the south in parts of Bindoon, Breera, Gingin, Lennard Brook, Mooliabeenee and Moondah in the shires of Gingin and Chittering.
There is an evacuation centre at the Bendigo Centre Recreation Grounds on Weld St.
The bushfire, which was reported at 9.07am on January 13, is moving in a south easterly direction.
It is not contained or controlled and so far has burnt about 2900ha.

Some roads have been closed including Teatree Rd between Mooliabeenee Rd and Gray Rd, Cockram Rd between Mooliabeenee Rd and Brand Hwy and Mooliabeenee Rd between Old Mooliabeenee Rd and Crest Hill Rd as well as Creighton Rd.
Power has been restored to the final 103 homes and businesses in Coonabidgee.
Initially power supply was lost to 920 homes and businesses in Mooliabeenee.
For the Bambun-Yanchep bushfire a watch and act had been in place for people bounded by Tuart Rd to the north, Brand Hwy to the east, a line from Byrne Rd across to Kestral Rd to the south, and along Shrike, Water and Banksia roads to the west in parts of Bambun, Muchea, Pinjar, Yanchep and Yeal in the shires of Gingin and Chittering and the City of Wanneroo but at 12.12pm today DFES said it was now an advice.
The bushfire was reported at 12.02pm on January 13 and about 2500ha of land has been burnt.
This morning Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm told the ABC’s WA Mornings with Nadia Mitsopoulos that a rapid damage assessment team was still assessing any losses of shed and homes for the Gingin-Bindoon bushfire.

Mr Klemm said lightning was believed to be the cause of the bushfires over the weekend.
He said the milder weather last night had allowed crews to get in closer and construct firebreaks and today they would continue to build containment lines.
Meanwhile, an all clear is in place for people in the vicinity of parts of Gnangara-Moore River state forest near Pinjar in the City of Wanneroo and Shire of Chittering.
Firefighters will monitor the area for the rest of the day and people need to remain vigilant in case the situation changes.
