WA Police are encouraging the community to remain vigilant and exercise caution when advertising items for sale using social media platforms after alleging a motorcycle involved in a chase which ended in Mindarie on Wednesday had earlier been stolen by another man when he took it for a test ride.

On Sunday, May 18 a police spokeswoman said rapid apprehension squad and Cannington detectives had charged two people in relation to an evade and stolen motor vehicle incident in Perth’s northern suburbs on Wednesday, May 14.

About 11.30pm, police had located a black Suzuki motorcycle travelling on Mitchell Fwy, near Burns Beach Rd with police alleging the rider failed to stop.

Police air wing tracked the man as he allegedly reached excessive speeds, breached red traffic control lights and travelled on the wrong side of the road throughout suburbs between Mindarie and Karrinyup.

It will also be alleged the motorcycle was bearing false number plates.

About 12.55am the following day, the motorcycle came to a halt on Anchorage Dr in Mindarie where the man was apprehended and the motorcycle was recovered.

A 31-year-old Mindarie man has been charged with one count of drove, caused or permitted a vehicle with a forged, replica or false plate to be driven on a road, one count of driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop, one count of reckless driving to escape pursuit by police and one count of no authority to drive.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 4.

As a result of further inquiries, it will be alleged the black Suzuki motorcycle was stolen by a 46-year-old Hilbert man on April 13 from a Ferndale residence, when he took the motorcycle for a test ride, which was being advertised for sale on social media.

It will also be alleged the 46-year-old man stole a green Kawasaki KLX250s motorcycle from a residence on Elanora Rd in Armadale on Friday, April 11, which remains outstanding.

WA Police say this stolen green Kawasaki KLX250s motorcycle is still to be located.

Anyone who has any information in relation to this green Kawasaki motorcycle is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online via www.crimestopperswa.com.au
