
A POLICE chase, which started on the freeway in Osborne Park ended in Gingin on Wednesday evening after a tyre deflation device was used on Gingin Brook Rd.
Central regional operations officers apprehended a 25-year-old man after a front tyre eventually disintegrated and the vehicle they were chasing came to a stop in bushland on Indian Ocean Dr in Wilbinga.
A police canine unit apprehended the driver who WA Police will allege ran from the vehicle.
WA Police said the incident started about 6pm on December 7 when police air wing officers were monitoring a black Holden Commodore utility bearing stolen number plates, that was travelling north on the Mitchell Fwy in Osborne Park.
A police spokeswoman said it would be alleged police air wing officers saw the vehicle being driven at speed and erratically.
“The Holden Commodore was monitored by officers in the air and on the ground as it travelled on surface roads to Gingin,’’ she said.

“As the vehicle travelled west on Gingin Brook Rd it drove over a tyre deflation device which punctured the front left tyre.
“It will be further alleged the 25-year-old man continued to drive the vehicle south along Indian Ocean Dr at speed.
“The front left tyre disintegrated and the vehicle came to a stop in bushland on Indian Ocean Dr, Wilbinga.’’
The 25-year-old man from Bicton was charged with reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, no authority to drive (cancelled), driver of a vehicle failed to comply with a direction to stop (circumstance of aggravation).
He was due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on December 8.
A 21-year-old female passenger also fled on foot before being apprehended and taken into custody.
