WA Police are targeting the unlawful use of off-road motorbikes across the state.

A police spokesman said the unlawful use of off-road bikes is a prevalent issue within the community and police were conducting Operation Education to enhance pre-existing strategies already in place to target it.

He said state traffic officers had been gathering intelligence on the unlawful use of off-road bikes and would now be conducting search warrants targeting related offences, seizing involved off-road bikes and bringing offenders before the courts.

State traffic divisional superintendent Alyson Brett said information from the community was vital when dealing with the issue.

“Unlicensed vehicles are hard to detect and at times, the riders are extremely hard to identify,’’ she said.

“Members of the public may know where these bikes are coming from, and going to, within our communities.

“We are appealing to these individuals to contact Crime Stoppers and provide that information to police so we can investigate in a timely manner.”

Anyone with information regarding the unlawful use of off-road motorbikes is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or report online at crimestopperswa.com.au
