Regional breakdown shows Wheatbelt Covid-19 cases

THERE were 51 Covid-19 cases in the Wheatbelt, which includes the Shire of Gingin, up to 8pm yesterday.

Eighteen of those 51 cases were reported yesterday (up to 8pm).

Today WA Health confirmed a woman in her 80s – who tested positive for Covid-19 had died in the 24-hour period to 8pm last night.

Due to patient confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department of Health on this death.

In the same time frame WA Health reported a total of 2423 new cases (up to 8pm last night).

There are currently 8419 active cases in Western Australia.

Up to 8pm last night, there were 22 people with Covid-19 in hospital, none of whom were in ICU.

In the metropolitan area there were 2192 new cases to 8pm last night.

Of the 2423 cases, 1580 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 843 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 15,103 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 14,589 cases since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
