A DELAY in completing the dualling of the Marmion Ave intersection in Yanchep will allow shoppers unimpeded access to the shopping centre before Christmas but it means works there will also take longer to finish.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said apart from the Lagoon Dr-Peony Dr intersection and one other intersection most of the roadworks for the 8km section of Marmion Ave duplication from Shorehaven to Yanchep Beach Rd would be completed by February 2020.

Cr Roberts said the city was asked to delay the start of the Lagoon Dr-Peony Dr intersection works to allow residents full access to the Yanchep shopping complex in the lead up to Christmas.

The city was also asked to delay Cinnabar Dr works to accommodate the extension of the Water Corporation water main.

“This means that these intersections have been rescheduled,’’ she said.

“These intersections are now expected to be completed by March 2020.

“Some minor works may still continue to be undertaken after March 2020 at these intersections.’’

The section of Marmion Ave between Camborne Parkway and Sanderling St was scheduled to be operating as a dual carriageway by the end of November.

But she said minor works would be completed after that date, including street light installation on the central median, brick paving the roundabout at Santorini Promenade and Main Roads WA line marking and signage.

“The section north of Sanderling St to Alkimos Vista is now planned to be finished by February 2020.

“All service relocations between Graceful Blvd and Brindabella Parkway have been completed and installation of the stormwater drainage has now commenced.”

Cr Roberts said the city was still in discussions with Landcorp regarding acquisition of land adjacent to the existing non-operational underpass at Blackwood Meander – the current design shows a complete path network in this area with a connection to a path on the western side of Marmion Ave.

The drainage swales in front of McDonald’s in Yanchep have been removed and the underground storage cells have been constructed.

There are no further works remaining to be completed at the Alkimos Vista section of the Marmion Ave duplication project.
