TRYRA invites residents to help celebrate its 30th year

THE Two Rocks Yanchep Residents Association is inviting residents to help celebrate their  30th year by establishing a new garden bed in Old Nursery Park in Yanchep.

TRYRA secretary Lorraine Jackson said the City of Wanneroo would be providing 250 plants, as well as providing gloves and trowels for the event on Friday, June 28 from 9.30am to 11.30am.

For those residents who are not up to planting, TRYRA has also registered the park as part of the Keep Australia Beautiful adopt a spot program and will do a quick litter pick up around the park.

Closed in shoes must be worn on the day.

Tea, coffee and a light morning tea will be provided.

Some of the achievements attributed to TRYRA include:

extending Yanchep dog beach, Marmion Ave upgrades, traffic signals at Marmion Ave-Peony Blvd-Lagoon Dr, Two Rocks marina upgrades including toilets, Two Rocks sea wrack management trials, Two Rocks beach staircase – Sovereign Dr, Two Rocks Blue Tree project, Yanchep entry sign, lighting for Two Rocks Rd (in progress), rumble strips on Two Rocks Rd, speed reduction on Two Rocks Rd 90km/h to 60km/h, foot path from Bethanie Beachside aged care on Two Rocks Rd, installation of defibrillators in Two Rocks, beach car park and access in Two Rock south – ongoing development, Keep Australia Beautiful rubbish collections – Marmion Ave, dog litter bags and signage, additional rubbish bins in community, requests for bus transport to Yanchep National Park, graffiti issues – constant reporting, the push for the Yanchep Police station, requests for the beautification and care of Yanchep and Two Rocks – ongoing, request for fire breaks in Two Rocks parks, replacement of vandalised road signs – noted and communicated with main roads and water drainage concerns in Two Rocks communicated to the Water Corporation.

Guest speakers or topics at TRYRA meetings have included: bush fire safety plans, the Perth Transport Authority – road infrastructure plans, St John WA first responders – first aid topics, WA Police, LJM Memorial Hospital, Y.hub Coworking, Acumen Development Solution, Yanchep National Park management, City of Wanneroo – tree planting on Marmion Ave, woody weed project community advice, Telstra management – mobile telephone issues – poor signal reception in Yanchep, Butler MLA John Quigley, former Wanneroo mayor Tracey Roberts and current Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken.
