An Emergency WA alert about an active alarm in Yanchep late yesterday turned out to be a false alarm, according to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).

The Emergency WA alert about the alarm was sent at 11.07pm on Thursday, July 2.

This morning a DFES spokesperson said it was a false direct brigade alarm (DBA) at a premises on Peony Blvd.

DBA is a service provided to premises prescribed under the building code of Australia (BCA) and relevant Australian standards that require a direct data link to a fire brigade dispatch centre.

After responding to more than 8000 false alarms in 2019-20 firefighters responded to over 8000 false fire alarm activations amounting to about 23 false fire alarm attendances each day DFES introduced a fee for attending false fire alarms
