ABOUT 5.50pm Western Power crews were still undertaking patrols to determine the cause of power outages affecting about 4071 customers in Yanchep and Eglinton and about 821 customers in Bindoon, Chittering, Mooliabeenee, Julimar, Cullalla and surrounds.
At 5.49pm Western Power said its network operations centre would back feed power supply to customers where possible and safe to do.
By 6.46pm Western Power had reduced the number of affected customers in Yanchep and Eglinton to 3046 with power estimated to be restored by 8.30pm.
By 7.30pm the Western Power outage page was saying the remaining 352 customers in the Old Nursery Park area should have their power restored by 8.30pm.
Earlier information said power to customers in Bindoon, Chittering, Mooliabeenee, Julimar, Cullalla and surrounds was not expected to be restored until 9pm but according to the outage power it is already back on.
A Western Power spokeswoman said once the cause/s were identified crews worked as swiftly and safely as possible to repair the fault/s and restore power.
The spokeswoman said during summer, network settings were adjusted to reduce fire-related risks which meant crews were unable to restore power until bushfire risks eased.
“Due to the current weather conditions, we need to inspect the power lines before restoring which can result in longer outage times,’’ she said.
“During unplanned outages, we communicate with impacted customers and stakeholders via SMS.
“If you see a fallen power line stay 8m away and make the safe call to Western Power on the emergency 24/7 number 13 13 51 so that emergency response crews can attend the hazard to make the area safe.
