YANCHEP Surf Life Saving Club members Kym Colotti of Gingin and Bec Millar of Yanchep were successful in gaining their bronze medallions or surf rescue certificates last month.
YSLSC registrar and member protection information officer Janine Prinsloo said 13 members were assessed for their bronze medallions.
“This is the biggest group we have assessed ever and are thrilled that so many people in the club want to volunteer their services to patrolling the beaches for our club,’’ she said.
She said some of the state’s top assessors gathered at the beach to run the group through the grueling tests they needed to master before they could save lives on the beach.
She said YSLSC had enjoyed a 200 per cent increase in members from the 2017-18 season to the 2018-19 season, which suggested the community was really enjoying the club’s culture, its all-inclusive policies and the fantastic facilities it had to offer.
