THE new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic at Lagoon Medical Centre in Yanchep has officially opened today, February 23.

The clinic offers walk-in care for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions like burns, cuts or broken bones and all patients will be fully bulk billed.

Open seven days a week from 7am to 7pm the clinic has x-ray facilities available on site.

The Albanese Government said the clinic would help ease pressure on the Joondalup Hospital emergency department, where around 34 per cent of presentations in 2024-25 were for semi-urgent or non-urgent conditions.

The Yanchep clinic is the second Medicare urgent care clinic delivered for the electorate of Pearce, joining the Clarkson clinic which opened in 2023.

The government said nationally, Medicare urgent care clinics had seen more than 2.5 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023, with more than 265,900 presentations across 265,900 Western Australia alone.

Health and Aged Care Minister Mark Butler said the federal government was getting on with the job of delivering more Medicare urgent care clinics for people in WA.

“This clinic will take pressure off the local hospitals, including Joondalup Hospital and will fill an important gap in services across extended hours and over the weekend,’’ he said.

Pearce MHR Tracey Roberts said the new urgent care clinic was fantastic news for Yanchep, Two Rocks and the growing northern corridor of the Pearce electorate.

“I’ve been fighting hard for this clinic because I know how desperately residents need accessible, bulk billed healthcare close to home,’’ she said.

“Pearce now has two Medicare urgent care clinics and I’m proud to have fought alongside this community to make it happen.

“Accessible, bulk billed healthcare close to home, that’s what our community deserves and that’s exactly what we have delivered.”
