Bushfire alert for eastern parts of Yanchep National Park

A BUSHFIRE watch and act is in place for people in an area bounded by Yanchep Rd in the north, Wanneroo Rd in the west, Bernard Rd North to the south and Delich Rd in the east in the eastern parts of Yanchep National Park.

The Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions issued an alert at 5.04pm saying the bushfire had been upgraded to a watch and act.

There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching in the area and conditions are changing.

The fire started near the intersection of Wanneroo Rd and Walding Rd in Carabooda.

The bushfire is moving fast in a north easterly direction.

It is not contained or controlled.

Firefighters are building containment lines with machinery.

Aerial support has been sent to assist ground crews.

The fire was reported at 3.33pm on Sunday, January 7.
