TWO hundred and ten homes and businesses have had their power affected by a bushfire which started this afternoon in Carabooda.

At 7.03pm the Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) said where possible back feeding would be undertaken to restore power.

But homes and businesses in the bushfire zone would not be able to have their power restored until crews are able to access the fire ground under the direction of the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

At 7.20pm the Western Power website was estimating power would be restored by 11pm today.

Parks and Wildlife Service said the bushfire was now contained but not under control.

The fire started near the intersection of Wanneroo Rd and Walding Rd in Carabooda.

Firefighters are strengthening containment lines with machinery and actively mopping up.

Aerial support cannot operate in the dark and have been released from the incident.

If needed they will return at first light.

The fire was reported at 3.33pm on Sunday, January 7.
