A BUSHFIRE watch and act is in place for people bound by Old Yanchep Rd to the north, Karoborup and Safari roads to the west, McLennan Dr to the south and Hopkins Rd to the east in Nowergup and Carabooda in the City of Wanneroo.
About 7pm the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) issued an alert saying the cause of the bushfire, which was moving in a north westerly direction, was suspicious.
The bushfire was reported at 5.23pm near Old Yanchep Rd and Hopkins Rd in Yanchep.
The prepare-to-leave alert said Old Yanchep Road was closed.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully.
