
WA Police are investigating three suspicious bushfires that were reported in Yanchep and Wlibinga in less than 30 minutes on Sunday, March 15, according to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions.
This afternoon DBCA said it had responded to three suspicious bushfires that started on DBCA-managed land within the City of Wanneroo and the Shire of Gingin on Sunday morning with assistance from local government volunteer brigades.
A DBCA spokesman said the department coordinated a rapid response to the bushfires involving aerial support and ground crews and all three were brought under control within a few hours.
“The cause of the bushfires is being investigated by WA Police,’’ the spokesman said.
The first bushfire near Indian Ocean Dr and Wilbinga Rd in Wilbinga was reported at 8.36am with the second a bushfire affecting Yanchep National Park including Old Yanchep Rd reported at 8.51am before the third was reported near Indian Ocean Dr and Smokebush Rd in Yanchep at 8.56am.
