A GINGIN man has been remanded in custody after allegedly failing to self-isolate and is due back in court on May 11.
At a press conference this afternoon Premier Mark McGowan said the man who had appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday had also allegedly failed to comply with an earlier direction to self-isolate.
WA Police said Gingin Police had gone to check on the 25-year-old man on Thursday evening but he was not there.
When they were leaving they spotted a car and the man was taken into custody.
The man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with a direction.
Mr McGowan said an 83-year-old woman with pre-existing serious conditions had died taking to nine the number of deaths from Covid-19 in Western Australia.
He said her death showed how the disease was and that WA was still in a state of emergency and would be for some time.
WA recorded no new cases overnight.
The nine deaths include five Western Australians and four people from the Artania cruise ship.
