AUSTRALIANS commemorate Anzac Day on April 25 – the anniversary of the day Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli in 1915.

As well as recognising more than 1.5 million men and women who have served Australia in all conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations it is a time to remember some 103,000 Australians who lost their lives while serving.

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs said it was also an opportunity to invoke the Anzac value of mateship and check to see how a friend or family member was feeling.

Open Arms is open 24/7 for veterans or their family members to chat to someone.
