A MAN arrested in Gnangara on Tuesday has died in the Perth Watch House.

WA Police said about 1pm on October 10 detectives from the gang crime squad took a 50-year-old man into custody in Gnangara.

A police spokeswoman said he was lodged at the Perth Watch House and then charged with a number of drug and firearm offences.

“About 7pm, the man was observed by officers to be suffering a medical episode inside his cell,’’ she said.

“Immediate medical assistance was provided until the arrival of St John WA but the man could not be revived.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and as per standard protocol officers from the major crime division will prepare a report for the Coroner.’’
