WA Police said Yanchep Police Station was nominated for their response to an active armed offender and their professional management of the crime scene which eliminated the threat and reduced fear of those within the community.
Introduced in 2014, the awards now in their tenth year provide recognition to police officers who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to excellence in service to the people of Western Australia.
The awards are one of the most high-profile ways WA Police officers can be acknowledged for their outstanding dedication to policing, its values and the community.
Nominations were received from both community members and WA Police personnel who wish to highlight the fantastic work of not only individual police officers or teams, but policing in general.
This year there were 181 nominations in total, with 103 individual nominations and 78 team nominations.
The awards are judged by a panel comprising of senior police and sponsor representatives.
Judging criteria includes excellence in a policing role, the WA Police Force core values of duty, teamwork, integrity and care, as well as the extent to which nominations raise the public’s confidence in policing.
The winners for both the individual and team awards will receive $2000 in prize money courtesy of the 2023 sponsors, 9News Perth, P&N Bank, WAtoday and 6PR.
The winners will be announced at a lunch event on Tuesday, December 12.
