Man due back in court after Alkimos shooting

A 24-year-old man, charged after a shooting in Alkimos, was in hospital on August 1 so his court appearance was conducted as a bedside hearing via video link.

A MAN is due to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 5 after an incident in Alkimos last week, which left another man with a gunshot wound.

WA Police said the man, who was charged by Joondalup Detectives with ‘attempted unlawfully to kill’, was also injured.

The 24-year-old was still in hospital on Saturday, August 1 so his court appearance was conducted as a bedside hearing via video link.

A police spokesman said bail was not considered.

On Friday about 3.30am police attended the area around Callosa Cres after several calls were received in relation to people approaching residences for help.

Police and St John Ambulance attended and a 27-year-old man – a relative of the younger man – was located with what was believed to be a gunshot wound.

He was taken to hospital for emergency surgery.

Police will be allege the 27-year-old injured man was shot inside a residence in Bellini Gardens, Alkimos.

He was being driven to receive medical treatment when the vehicle he was in crashed on Marmion Ave.

At this time several nearby residences were approached to seek assistance.
