A NEW footpath is being built to provide improved pedestrian and cyclist access to the PTA bus stops near the Yanchep Beach and Two Rocks roads intersection.
City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the earthworks being carried out on the east side of Two Rocks Rd near the Yanchep Beach Rd intersection were part of the city’s new pathways program.
“The works include the construction of a new 1.8m wide footpath which will extend along the east side of Two Rocks Rd from the Berteaux Approach intersection to the Yanchep Beach Rd intersection and then head east for 100m and move away from the road to connect to the existing footpath network in Old Nursery Park,’’ she said.
“This footpath is being constructed to provide improved pedestrian and cyclist access to the recently upgraded PTA bus stops on Two Rocks Rd.’’
Cr Roberts said the work was scheduled to be completed in November.
She said the kerbing work on Frigate Cres was part of the roads resurfacing program.
“The kerbing was raised in preparation for asphalt resurfacing which is scheduled to conclude next week.’’
NBN crews were also working in the Yanchep Beach Rd and Frigate Cres area during the past week.
She said the block adjoining that associated with the Newman Rd service station proposal was being used to temporarily stockpile fill material which would be used to construct ramps on the other side of Yanchep Beach Rd.
“The ramps will provide access for trucks to import the remaining fill directly to the site.’’
She said no further vegetation removal was scheduled for the project and the new slopes would be vegetated once the project had been completed.
