THE Water Corporation says it will soon be starting an essential project to improve the reliability of water supplied to Yanchep and surrounding suburbs.
A Water Corporation spokesman said the project included installing a 2km pipeline along Marmion Ave between Cinnabar Dr and Revolution Ave.
“Work will begin next month and once complete, will support the area’s growth and economic development,’’ he said.
“Regarding the separate City of Wanneroo’s Marmion Ave dualling project, we understand delays are due to several factors including the project contractor obtaining approval to install a pipeline section beneath Marmion Ave.
“This section of pipeline is being installed to minimise disruption to traffic flow when Water Corporation begins its project next month.
“We have worked with the contractor to clarify the requirements and approval has now been granted.’’
The Water Corporation said its pipeline project was a separate project to the Marmion Ave dualling project.
Earlier this month City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the delay to the Marmion Ave dualling project included unforeseen remedial works and additional major add-ons to the project.
“Through close collaboration with Main Roads WA, the Water Corporation, numerous northern corridor developers and other key stakeholders the City and RJ Vincent revised the project plan to include a further $6 million of works,’’ she said.
This included the provision of additional intersections and accommodating the traffic impacts on Marmion Ave resulting from the future Mitchell Fwy extension to Romeo Rd and the extension of the rail to Yanchep.
