IN what is shaping up to be a mouth-watering clash the undefeated Brighton Seahawks are set to face the Balga Bombers on Sunday, August 4.
The Seahawks, coming off the back of a 169-point win over Warwick Greenwood are looking to solidify their spot on the top of the ladder.
In a number of firsts for the club, a few milestones are to be reached this week.
Zach Gryszan is set to become the first player in club history to reach 100 games having been part of the inaugural side back in 2014.
Gryszan has been a pivotal player for a number of years having played in many different roles and is now shaping as a part of the club’s push for a second premiership.
In another big moment for the club Jordan Pearcey is on track to kick 100 goals for the season this week – if he reaches that milestone he will be the first player in Seahawks history to do so.
Pearcey who alongside Jarryd Sewell celebrated his 50th game last week has 97 goals from 14 games.
With a lead of 50 goals it is fair to say he has a stranglehold on the Metro Football League division 2 leading goal kicker award.
This Sunday’s blockbuster game between the Seahawks and fourth-placed Bombers will follow the Brighton Seahawks Junior Football Club U18 side.
The U18 are fourth on the ladder and play the Whitford Lions in what is a must win game to keep themselves inside the top four.
U18 coach James Bailey, who also plays ruck with the senior side will have his new look on display.
Bailey has dyed his hair pink and beard blue in support of his sister-in-law in her battle with breast cancer.
If anybody would like to contribute head to the Seahawks Facebook page for the link.
There will also be collection tins made available over the course of the weekend’s games to support this worthy cause.
The U18 game starts at 1pm with the senior game set to follow from 3pm at Kingsbridge Reserve in Butler.
