INCUMBENT Pearce MHR Christian Porter says if re-elected a Morrison Government will invest $5 million to help get a swimming pool built in the northern suburbs.

Mr Porter said the community had been calling for a public swimming pool.

“As a dad, I know how hard it is to get our kids into swimming lessons in our northern suburbs,” he said.

“Our community has been crying out for this pool and today I am incredibly proud to be able to announce this critical funding.

“Five million dollars is what the City of Wanneroo needs to plan the pool and get this important project underway.”

Mr Porter said a swimming pool was an important piece of infrastructure for the rapidly growing northern suburbs.

“Our northern coastline is one of the fastest growing areas in the country.

“Each year we welcome thousands of new people into our community – and this number continues to grow.’’

He said the election commitment meant the people living in the suburbs of Butler, Clarkson, Quinns Rocks, Merriwa, Alkimos residents and people in the surrounding suburbs would be one step closer to having a state of the art public swimming pool.

Earlier in the federal election campaign Mr Porter also promised a re-elected Morrison government would provide $5m towards the Butler sporting complex.
