In the lead up to the May 18 federal Election the Liberal’s Christian Porter promises $5m for the Butler sporting complex.

CHRISTIAN Porter says a re-elected Morrison government will provide $5 million towards the Butler sporting complex.

Mr Porter, who holds the seat of Pearce for the Liberal Party with a margin of 3.6 per cent, said he has been campaigning to turn the Butler sporting complex into a reality, which would benefit the entire Butler community.

“As a dad, I know how important grassroots sport is,” he said.

“Our northern suburbs are amongst the fastest growing in the country – each year we welcome 8000 new residents into our community, and this number continues to grow.

“I am committed to making sure our community has the infrastructure it needs to keep up with this growth, which is why this announcement is so important.”

The Butler sporting complex will feature two multi-purpose turf playing areas, a sports amenities building, car park, 16 hard-courts, equipment storage facilities, toilets and a kiosk.

It is estimated the complex will service some 75,000 people.

“I’ve spoken to countless residents and local sporting clubs about the need for improved sporting facilities in our area – this is something the whole community has collectively been crying out for.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts welcomed the election announcement.
