Roberts and Coetzee in Wanneroo mayoral contest

THE battle for the new mayor of the City of Wanneroo will be between current Mayor Tracey Roberts and North Coast ward councillor Sonet Coetzee.

Yesterday, Thursday, September 12 at 4pm Western Australian Electoral Commission returning officer Kelly Dansie conducted the draw to determine the order in which candidates will appear on the ballot papers for the local government election on October 19.

Cr Roberts’ name was drawn first for the top position on the ballot paper to decide the mayoral contest.

There are two vacancies for the Central ward with the following nine candidates – listed in the order they will appear on the ballot paper –  Jacqueline Huntley, Peter Newbound, Gideon Rossouw, Samantha Fenn (current councillor) , Michael Aspinall, Andrew Baillie, Shelley McGinn, Aaron Sawmadal and Frank Cvitan (current councillor).

Six candidates have nominated for the two North Coast ward vacancies – Azeem Shah, Russell Driver (current councillor), Chris Baker, Natalie Sangalli (current councillor), Matthew Bettinaglio and Godwin Fernson – listed in the order they will appear on the ballot paper.

Twelve candidates – Glynis Parker, Siham (Sam) Carollisen, Warren Nel, Marino Salinas, John Cumalkovs, Brett Treby (current councillor), Domenic Caccamo, Anh Truong, Rona Chiera, George Okulicz, Janine Wood and Vinh Nguyen will try to win one of the three vacancies in the South ward – listed in the order they will appear on the ballot paper.
