Seven run for five Gingin vacancies

SEVEN candidates are running for the five vacancies in the Shire of Gingin local government election on Saturday, October 19.

When nominations closed at 4pm on Thursday, September 12 Western Australian Electoral Commission returning officer Carrie Edwards conducted a draw to determine the order candidates would appear on the ballot paper.

Number one position on the ballot paper went to Erik Sorensen, followed by Andrea Vis, Carolyn Harris Johnson, Frank Peczka, Wayne Fewster, Linda Balcombe and Jan Court.

Frank Peczka, Wayne Fewster and Jan Court are current councillors.

There were 4379 electors in the Shire of Gingin at the time of the 2017 local government election with 42.4 per cent of them turning out to vote.
