A SEARCH is underway for the occupant of an abandoned dinghy found off Alkimos.
About 1.45 pm today WA Police were advised by a beach fisherman that he could see a small boat some distance offshore, which was continually circling its location.
A WA Police spokeswoman said Whitfords, Two Rocks and Fremantle marine rescue, Water Police and PolAir were dispatched to the scene.
Yanchep Surf Life Saving assisted by maintaining a watch of the vessel from shore.
The vessel, a dinghy, was recovered and towed to the Two Rocks marina.
A marine search involving Water Police, DFES Marine Rescue, JRCC and Police Airwing is continuing for the occupant of the abandoned dinghy.
Police and SES personnel are also conducting a land search along the coastline.
