ALKIMOS seniors and their families are invited to a free community information session on Thursday, April 23 to help them understand Australia’s new aged care system changes and what they mean for care at home.
Silverchain’s local care team will explain how the changes affect people currently receiving services, including those supported through the Commonwealth home support program (CHSP), as well as what the new system means for service categories, personal contributions and care plans.
The session will include time for questions and the opportunity to speak directly with Silverchain staff.
The event is one of a series of community sessions Silverchain WA will host across the Perth metropolitan area and regional WA to help people navigate the new support at home program.
In a statement Silverchain said the sessions would provide clear, practical guidance on what the reforms meant for people receiving care at home, with a focus on supporting more Australians to live confidently and independently in their own homes for longer.
“People currently receiving support through the CHSP are strongly encouraged to attend to understand how the transition from CHSP to support at home will occur,’’ the statement said.
Silverchain WA care service delivery general manager Lesley Balkwill said the organisation was committed to leading the way, setting the standard for quality, compassionate, person-centred care and supporting their workforce so every older Australian could live with confidence, independence and dignity.
The Alkimos information session will be held at Halesworth Park pavilion, 14 Amble Grove from 10am to noon.
