Two more charges after body found in burnt-out ute

WA Police have charged two more people after a man’s body was found in burnt-out vehicle on a bush track off Old Yanchep Rd last month.

A MERRIWA man remains in custody while he waits to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrate Court on April 29 after he was yesterday charged with murder and criminal damage by fire.

The 35-year-old man, who WA Police said is a relative of the man whose body was found in the Yanchep National Park on Sunday, March 8, appeared in Joondalup Magistrates Court yesterday.

Homicide squad detectives also charged a 55-year-old man of no fixed address with murder and criminal damage by fire in relation to the same incident.

The first person charged by homicide squad detectives in relation to this incident was a 61-year-old woman, who was arrested on March 19 after her 59-year-old husband’s body was found in a burnt-out Holden Rodeo located on a bush track 200m off Haddrill Rd and Old Yanchep Rd.

A police spokeswoman said the 35-year-old man had already been taken into custody on March 11 and charged on unrelated domestic violence matters before he was charged yesterday.
