A SHOWCASE of community groups and the services they provide will be on display at Yanchep Central Shopping Centre on Friday, March 29.
The Yanchep Central Community Awareness Expo will also include organisations and groups which provide activities for young people in the area will also be involved.
Former West Coast Eagles players Daniel Kerr will be in attendance from 2.30pm to 5pm signing posters and having handball comps.
(Former West Coast Eagles player Mark LeCras will no longer be attending but the organisers understand Daniel Kerr is bringing two other friends.)
People can bring along their own football or West Coast Eagles merchandise to have it autographed.
Electric Entertainment Dance school and APA Stagework will also be represented at the expo.
Yanchep Secondary College art students have been working hard to have their paintings ready for exhibition at the Yanchep expo.
Principal James Kent said during the concept stage of the project, students were visited by artist Cindy Watson who demonstrated the design development process she followed when creating her artworks.
Mr Kent said the brief for the artists was to design and paint a piece that represents Yanchep and the surrounding areas.
Students worked from photographs of local flora, fauna and scenery and then took a modern approach in simplifying their chosen image and applying bright colours.
“For most students, this was their first time working with acrylic paints on canvas and they, along with their teacher Helen McCarthy, would like to thank Yanchep Central Shopping Centre for providing these canvasses,’’ he said.
Representatives from Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club, Yanchep Police, Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue, Two Rocks Yanchep Assisted Cancer Travels, Y.hub, Lions and the hearing bus, Two Rocks Fire Brigade, Snap Fitness, Yanchep National Park, Sun City Yacht Club, Collaborative Research Centre for Honey Bee Products, Atlantis Baptist College, Yanchep Two Rocks RSL and Yanchep Community Men’s Shed as well as the City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts, Pearce MHR Christian Porter and Butler MLA John Quigley will be attending.
There will also be food trucks, live music and a bouncy castle at the expo, which runs from noon to 6pm.
