THE Yanchep Two Rocks Lions Club held a Local Heroes event at the Yanchep Inn to recognise children nominated by their schools.
Anne Bishop and other Yanchep and Two Rocks Lions Club members said the schools had been asked to nominate children in three categories.
Jayon Davies, Charlie Trevanion and Archie Trevanion received awards for acting courageously.
Cara Dziegielewski was recognised for excellence in sport.
Cazaly Butchart, Weiland Mansell, Emma Adams and Ella Phillips were awarded for facing life’s challenges with exceptional courage.
Julie Otremba with Jayon Davies, Archie Trevanion and Charlie Trevanion who were among those to receive awards at the Local Heroes event at the Yanchep Inn.In a statement Yanchep and Two Rocks Lions Club said the recognition of the young people’s achievements would act as an encouragement for them and other children in the future, help them to believe in themselves, improve their selflessness and show them that the society they lived in valued their contribution.
City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts presented the medals and certificates while Butler MLA John Quigley was busy organising photopraphs.
Julie Otremba presented the children with a Bunnings bag, containing a special Bunnings bear, gifts and a voucher for $25 donated by the Lions Club.
The club said it was a great day for everyone with the children’s faces and big smiles tinged with emotion, shared by parents and visitors, making the event a complete success, topped by help setting up and appetising catering supplied by the Yanchep Inn staff.
