DREDGING works are being undertaken in Lancelin by the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure, which could temporarily increase noise for residents and visitors in the affected area.

In a statement the Shire of Gingin said sand from the dredging works, in an area adjacent to the Lancelin jetty, would be deposited on the foreshore in the vicinity of Harold Park (near the Lancelin Sands Hotel).

The dredging works will operate seven days a week and are estimated to be completed by Sunday, December 20.

The statement said Gingin Rd between Shell St and the 3 Emus Restaurant in Lancelin would be closed for one day on Thursday, October 22 between 7am and 5pm.

“The works may result in temporary noise disturbance for residents and visitors in the surrounding area,’’ the statement said.

“A noise management plan is in place to mitigate and minimise work-related noise during the campaign.’’
