THE new school on Sunningdale Rd in St Andrews due to open next year has been officially named Yanchep Rise Primary School.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery said Yanchep’s third primary school would accommodate up to 430 students from kindergarten to Year 6.

Once completed, the campus – due to open next year – will include an early childhood teaching block and three general classroom blocks, including a specialised art and science room.

Students will also have a covered assembly area with a canteen and music room, a library resource centre, staff room, conference room and administration building and hard courts.

The school is on track to open its gates to students in 2021.

Ms Ellery said the official title came about after consultation with the community with the decision now allowing staff and students to get on with designing uniforms, logo and school colours.

“I know families will be proud to send their children to this wonderful new school which I’m confident to say will provide them with a high quality education in the state-of-the-art facilities,’’ she said.

Butler MLA John Quigley said Yanchep Rise was a name befitting both the location of the school and the school’s ethos of challenging yourself and rising to the occasion.
