Pinjar motorcycle area clean up day a success

A clean up in the Pinjar state forest motorcycle area was held on February 21.

A CLEAN up and maintenance day at the Pinjar off-road riding facility was a big success with more than 35 people braving the heat to help on February 21.
The clean up organised by the Recreational Trailbike Riders’ Association (RTRA) and The Friends of Pinjar will help keep riding areas open.
RTRA member Nigel Crisp said the volunteers made a big difference.

“With the plan for people to take more rubbish home with them than they take, this will help the day-to-day look of the place,’’ he said.

“Unfortunately, there are still people that use any accessible bush as a rubbish dump, this has nothing to do with the good people that use the facilities on a regular basis.
“We also took out new signs to keep people going the correct way on the one-way tracks.

“This keeps it safe for all users of this great facility.’’

He said Parks and Wildlife Service people were there to cook up some sausages and supply some much needed ice-cold water.

The Pinjar state forest motorcycle area is used by hundreds of people with families using it every weekend and during the week.

“Sometimes it is even hard to get a car park, as there are so many people taking

advantage of what there is to offer.’’
