THERE were reports of damage to 17 properties in the northern suburbs including some homes in Two Rocks due to severe weather over the weekend.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said between early Friday morning and Sunday evening there were calls for assistance at four Two Rocks properties, seven properties in Clarkson and six in Wanneroo.
A DFES spokesman said most calls to the SES for help were for roof damage with a few calls for trees down on a property or water inside a home.
On Saturday evening the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) said a strong cold front was moving over the southwest of the state with damaging wind gusts up to 110km/h that could cause damage to homes and property expected throughout the warning area during Sunday.
On Sunday morning BoM said the strong cold front had moved over the southwest of the state with brief but heavy showers and thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts would continue throughout the day.
“These conditions are expected to be widespread about coastal areas extending from Lancelin to Albany, with a more isolated risk through remaining areas,” BoM said.
The bureau said conditions were expected to ease from the west from early afternoon but ongoing damaging surf conditions could cause significant beach erosion between Shark Bay and Esperance.
