IF you live near the Yanchep Beach Rd and Beachside Pde roundabout and recently received a vague letter saying Western Power is going to carry out work on its electricity network in the area this coming week the utility has provided some clarification.

In response to questions from Yanchep News Online Western Power said it would be conducting works at the intersection of Beachside Pde and Yanchep Beach Rd to replace a streetlight, which was damaged after a car crashed into the pole.

A Western Power spokeswoman said no power outage would be required as a result of the works and no meter box access would be required.

“There may be some noise generated by the crane required to hoist the pole, but this is expected to be consistent with the levels of an average truck and not expected to have significant impact on surrounding residences,’’ the spokeswoman said.

“The works will begin at about 7pm on Monday, July 20 and will be complete by 1am on Tuesday, July 21.

“Traffic management will be on site to ensure residents and motorists can still access their properties and surrounding streets.

“We thank the community for their patience as we undertake these works.’’

On its LED streetlight page Western Power says when they replace a traditional streetlight luminaire, they replace the luminaire (or head unit) only and the upgrade works will not affect residents’ power supply and no civil works or excessive noise are expected.
