THE annual Australia Day breakfast in Two Rocks started out as a sausage sizzle in the park in 1991.

Since 1996 it’s been held in the Phil Renkin Recreation Centre.

Residents get to enjoy a cooked breakfast, listen to music or chat to their neighbours and there is some entertainment for the children.

Following the breakfast organised by Yanchep Two Rocks Community Recreation Association (YTRCRA) volunteers there is an award ceremony.

At the start of the 2025 Australia Day breakfast awards ceremony YTRCRA president Julie Otremba handed certificates to some Two Rocks Youth in Emergency Services cadets for helping the event run smoothly.

Two Rocks Red Cross Shop manager Deb Anderson was awarded the medallion for outstanding achievement in the local area.

The group award went to the Two Rocks Youth in Emergency Services cadet unit, which opened in May 2022 with 16 young people aged between 11 to 18-years-old all living in the catchment area of Alkimos to Gabbadah.

They now have 40 cadets and a waiting list of youngsters wanting to join.

The winner of the citizen award was YTRCRA’s Ana Large with North ward councillors Alex Figg and Sonet Coetzee presenting her with the trophy on behalf of Wanneroo Mayor Linda Aitken.

Yumi Yasuhara from Yanchep Sun City presented the youth trophy to Isabelle Curtis, who was awarded for her academic, sporting and volunteering achievements.
