WESTERN Power has provided an explanation for an unplanned outage, which affected more than 4000 customers in Yanchep and Eglinton on November 24.
The utility said it was undertaking essential planned works in Yanchep affecting 59 customers on November 24.
A Western Power spokeswoman said those customers were given advanced notice of the planned outage.
“During the work, there was an unrelated fault on the network resulting in an unplanned power outage affecting 4487 customers,’’ she said.
“Website information and SMS messages to these customers incorrectly said the outage was planned.
“Power was restored within 30 minutes to most of these customers.
“We apologise for the confusion and the frustration caused by the outage and the incorrect information, and we are looking at ways to improve the notifications.’’
