PEOPLE wishing to donate to The Salvation Army Christmas appeal can do so at Realty Force North in Wangara with the northern suburbs real estate agent opening their offices to accept donations.
Until Friday, November 28 some REIWA member agencies across Perth – and one in Kalgoorlie – will be accepting public donations of non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped gifts.
REIWA will then pass the donated goods to The Salvation Army.
REIWA president Suzanne Brown said the real estate institute was proud to continue its support of The Salvation Army Christmas appeal, which made a real difference in people’s lives at Christmas time.
“The Salvation Army appeal is a great way for West Australians to reach out and help others at Christmas,” Ms Brown said.
“Adding a few items to the weekly shop and then dropping them at the local real estate office on the way home is a simple way to help out the less fortunate.
“Through donated food and gifts, The Salvation Army Christmas appeal offers both practical help and a touch of festive spirit.
The Salvation Army spokesperson Warren Palmer said the Christmas appeal was important to give hope to West Australians needing support.
“Christmas can intensify financial and emotional pressures for those already experiencing disadvantage, together with those falling into hardship,” Mr Palmer said.
“As costs in all areas of living remain high, the Christmas appeal aims to provide support for WA families experiencing food and financial insecurity.
“With the potential of Christmas aspirations disappearing for some, the goal for the Salvos Christmas appeal this year is to be the hope for families and to do all we can to ensure people receive the help they need.
“Together with REIWA and community REInvest partners, we believe that this hope can start in every office that provides an opportunity for donations of food, toys and gifts.
“Together, we can all be the hope for our communities.”
Ms Brown said the Christmas appeal was a special campaign on REIWA’s community REInvest calendar.
