CLEARING of vegetation next to Wanneroo Rd between Dunstan Rd to Romeo Rd has started in preparation for dualling of the final section of the road.

Main Roads WA said the current work involved clearing vegetation to allow for service relocations and road construction.

A Main Roads WA spokeswoman said service relocations were planned for 2024-25 with road construction planned to start in mid-2025.

The current work, which started on Monday, May 27 is expected to be completed by the end of June.

The spokeswoman said the $35.2 million Wanneroo Rd duplication (Dunstan Road to Romeo Road) was previously included as part of the scope of the Mitchell Fwy extension project.

The project is funded by the federal ($17.5m) and state ($17.5m) governments.

“Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) approval for the duplication was granted in the overarching Mitchell Fwy extension project and is valid until October 2024,’’ she said.
